??? about stall rpm
I have a crate 350 with 882 heads on it with a 350th and 3:73 rear. There is a guy locally that has a slightly used 2000-2200 stall for my tranny and I wanted to know if that was streetable or not, and what issues if any would arrise from the use of the stall. I do have a tranny cooler, not installed but will before I put the stall in. I do have plans for a posi rear as well, but would I need it before I put the stall in? TIA...Randy

a 2200 convertor is very streetable. Sounds like its probably a 500 over stock stall convertor. I work at a tranny shop in meade county about 20 mins outside of louisville. I can get u a 500 over stock stall convertor for about $90 brand new. You probably wont need an extra cooler or anything unless you get up in the 2800 stall range. You wont have any driveability problems with a stall speed that low.

I would run a cooler and stock for a th350 is 12-1500. The 2200 is completly streetable, but with more stall comes more heat. Run the converter and the cooler. You will like the nice launch you get. BTW 882 are nice heads when they are worked over a bit.

Everything is streetable untill it pisses you off.
When you choose your converter you usually want to match it with your cam, or beter yet Torque #'s from a dyno. You want the stall to be just under the torque peak of the motor. This seems to work good for me.
