WTB or need to know about "Speakers" ........
I am looking for a NOS or even a new speaker that will mount like the original speaker does. What are y'all using with you stock AM or AM-FM and where is a good place to buy one.
Also some where I heard that someone had their original speaker rebuilt. Anybody know anything about that or how much it might cost to get one rebuilt. Thanks Jason

Go to the bottom of the page...4x10 Speaker is a direct fit. It is a true 8ohm speaker which was designed for our truck radios. I bought the Dual Cone Speaker so I can eventually run my GM 8 Track.

LMC Truck has a headliner with speakers located in that area. Also kickpanel has a cover that support speakers as well.

Re: WTB or need to know........
FYI an 8 ohm load can be achieved with two modern 4 ohm speakers wired in series. This means that the positive from the radio goes the positive of one speaker, the negative to the negative of the OTHER speaker, and the remaining speaker positive and negatives then connected to each other. There is liklihood of added distortion as two speakers share on signal, but if you're considering rebuilding a factory speaker, i don't think high fidelity is high on your list.

Classic bowties (mel) rebuilds these. Might contact Leddzepp as he rebuilt one for him recently and it looked very nice.

Re: WTB or need to know........
A couple things to remember...
First-Not all new speakers are true 8 ohm speakers. They are actually less. The down side to this is it is "possible" to damage you factory radio if not using a true 8-10 ohm speaker. Secondly-the reason I wanted a dual cone speaker-I can actually run a left and right channel. Although separation is minimal...you can actually run a "Stereo" unit with these speakers.
