Advice on tire size
Hi all, I just got some 17 x 8 inch wheels with 4.5 inch backspacing (Cragar chrome steel 441 with 6 lug). I have a 4 inch front and a 6 inch back drop and I was wondering about tire size. I am looking for something that will not break the bank (around $100 each). I was considering 235 55R/17. They are 27.2 diameter and a section width of 9.6. I noticed that some are running 255 50R/17 that are the same diameter and are only about a 1/2 inch wider. Is there anyone running 235 55R/17's and will they look ok (I know this is opinion and I would like to hear) with the amount of drop I have? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Advice on tire size
I would think it would look fine. I personally prefer a wider tire, but if the height is the same as the 255/50, it's only a 20mm difference in width. It should still fit in the fenderwells nicely enough to look good and proportioned.
Do you plan to run the same size tire all around or just up front? I would think the 235/55/17 would look way too small in the rear.

Yes, I was thinking on running the same size all around. Do you still think they would look to small in the rear with a 6" drop? Does anyone have any pictures?
Off to do some more welding on replacement panels... |
