Re: Weight of truck is this about right?

That's a little less than I would have thought. I crushed one back in the summer it was 3000 with no motor or tranny.

Re: Weight of truck is this about right?

That's almost exactly what my truck tips the scales at minus 20 lbs. But I have a short bed, but AC, PS, 4 wheel disks (I'm told that disks are heavier than drums)

Re: Weight of truck is this about right?

Is this the 64-66 in your avtar pic? Were you in it? If so, I don't know why mine is soo flipping heavy.. On draglites, LS1/4L80E it was 3850 with a half tank me in it last time at the track.. However, I have moved a lot of weight around and it was 2,050 front and 1,800 rear.

Re: Weight of truck is this about right?

BTW, I was looking at some old files.. When I first put my truck together it weighed: 3,680-3,700 with out me in it. This weight came off a truck scale. I'm 190lbs so figure that at 3,870-3,890.

I went back after some minor things like taking the front bumper off and removing the heater it was 3,840 with me in it 2,260 front 58.85% and 1,580 rear 41.15%. This was with a fuel cell in the rear and before I moved the batterey.

Last time at the track with 1/2 tank gas it was 3,850 with 2,050 front and 1,800 rear. 53.25% front and 46.75 rear. Things that changed:

Batterey got moved to the back of the truck
Swapped out 7" steel wheels for Draglites
Went from a 275/50/15 front to a 195/75/15
Went from a 275/50/15 Drag radial to a 30x14.50 ET street with no tube
Swapped a manual steering box back in since someone had converter it to power.
Widened wheels tubs a little
Mounted the N20 bottle and 2 stage kit
Added aprox 100lbs to the upper portion of the tailgate

Next round of weight reduction I think will make some serious changes as far as weight, weight distribution and the way the truck is going to work. Changes are:

1 piece fiberglass front (Guessing it will shave 170-190lbs since the complete front with hood weighs 240lbs)
Getting rid of the brake booster (Guessing this is 10lbs)
Removed bench seat for lighter race seats (Saved 55-60lbs)
Removed gas tank bracketry (5lbs maybe)
Removing weight from tailgate (100lbs)
Putting in a 6 point cage (50-75lbs)
--------------------------------------------
That would bring me to 3,585 with me in the truck.

Perhaps some of the above things are worth of doing to help your trucks balance.

Re: Weight of truck is this about right?

my 70 c20 weighed in at 4000 even. That was with a 350, sm465, but it also had a performer intake, headers, no power steering, no a/c or heater, no tail gate, and 4 wheel manual drums.
