NOS 8' Bedsides on CL in CT - $3500!!!!!?????

I posted this here and not in the forsale because I thought it might generate some discussion on what something like this is worth. They pretty much re-pro everything for these trucks except the 8' sides - yet (I thought Tri-Pro was working on it a few years ago).

Anyway - do you think they are worth the asking price?

Didn't know that. I see that Wes @ Classis Heartbeat has them, I didn't see them on Tri-Pro's website (as they are alot closer to me if I ever wanted to buy some bedsides )

yup and there are a couple places reproing the 8' bed floor too quite pricey but worth it if your sides are good. i think i priced one out around 850

Don't delete the thread. This NOS BS is a pet peeve of mine. Yes, most of the GM stuff is better quality and fits better than the Taiwanese junk on the market, but the mere reference to the three letters "NOS" automatically increases the price 3x what it is really should be worth.

They should of sold them before the repos came out. I think after they start repoing a part then the NOS value is not as great but this is just my opinion.

NOS BS? How about 2X the value of aftermarket Taiwanese junk (as you call it), price would then come in around $1500 per side which is fairly close to what he's asking...

If I was building a deserving truck that needed them, I would'nt think twice about dropping $2500... on them. They are what they are and at some point for someone out there that deserving truck will come along.

Re: NOS 8' Bedsides on CL in CT - $3500!!!!!?????

That is a touch MORE than what I paid for My NOS SWB bedsides.

But in reality, I bet the NOS LWB sides are more difficult to find than short. This is the 1st time I have ever seen any.

You also would think good sheetmetal would be worth a premium in the northeast.

I think we should all just throw in and get our own repop machine. We can keep it at my house...then we'll have unlimited replacements. You side swipe a car in the lane that you want to be in? NO PROBLEM. We got a repop machine.

Re: NOS 8' Bedsides on CL in CT - $3500!!!!!?????

Are these things damaged????

Check out passenger side one. It looks like the rear lower section is banged up around the bodyline, and is that a fuel door or something cut into it? Looks banged up to me?

He needs better pics in better lighting if he wants that kind of money, IMO.

Re: NOS 8' Bedsides on CL in CT - $3500!!!!!?????

I just happen to be selling a pair of certified to be pre-owned and aged LWB bedsides already media blasted.

If you are an arab sheik restoring your vintage truck then by all means purchase these NOS pieces for $3,500.

But if you are a money savvy red blooded american trucks forum member they are yours for $150. You just need to pick them up in San Francisco.

PS: Why anybody would spend that amount of money is beyond me. Below is the 8' bed (after media blast) that I found locally for my project.

I paid that much for mine because I needed them. If you have some short sides in that shape for $150, this red blooded american will buy every set you can get.

You know what they say about fools and money....Tell them it's NOS and if they pay 5 times what it's worth...then they are soon parted ( the fools and their money that is ) That sheetmetal is way to easy to find in primo condition to warrant that price in my opinion...it's not like it is a James Young Bently or a ZL1 Camaro it is going on? Just my opinion sorry if you disagree.

I purchased this take off bed including the tail gate for $1500. I think there are other take off beds out though hard to find...but patience is the key. Also there are still rust free beds out there that could be purchased for a lot less than $3500. It just seems like a lot of $$$ for NOS bedsides. JMHO.

I agree with Tim. He should have sold them before the repops came out. However I do not find the price too high. Go buy a brand new 2009 bed and see what you will pay. You will have to cash in your 401K. We sell the 8 footers to, like most companies do now.

Re: NOS 8' Bedsides on CL in CT - $3500!!!!!?????

I think thats out of my range too! The last parts truck I bought was $300. The truck had just been painted a year befor he ditched it and trashed the front end. That also leads us to whether or not a complete short bed (aftermarket) is worth $3000. I'm in the midwest and finding (NOS) parts worth a c--p is very hard. oldno7
