Re: engine
Why would you go through the trouble of putting a diesel back in it? If your not going to use it for any of the intended purposes of the diesel gives you then it's a wasted effort and you will be paying double (or more) in fuels costs.
There are many members here that have found ways to make the 6.2 diesel a good option for it's intended purpose. Using it as a DD is not one of them.

Re: engine
If you do ditch the 400, I want it...lol
If you're not worried about mileage, just torque, the only thing that will beat a 400 is a big block. and LS engines are expensive. 400's the best bang for the buck. |

Re: engine
yeah . 400 is a great small block. one of the best in my opinion. It all depends on what ur after. Sounds like it suits ur needs but I can imagine your looking to get alittle better fuel milliage because it is a DD. Nice thing about the 6.2's is with an electric trans 4l60/4l80e you can pull 20 plus mpg but with the price now a days it is not worth it unless ur after the torque. 6.2's where never the best diesel out there but they did well in the fuel millage. I would run the 400 till it goes saving up some money then rebuild it better then stock into a 406. If your like me an LSX motor is not an option money wise.......

Re: engine
Like Bob says, stuff a fresh 350 in it and go. It's quick, easy & pretty cheap.

God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose. |

Re: engine
Start with the basics. Get a "good" tune on the motor and carb. Find someone that "really" knows carbs and have it adjusted properly. Make sure you have a quality air filter in your breather. If you don't have a K&N get one. Convert to a clutch fan, or consider electric fans.
What gears are you running?
