Re: 7000 mile roadtrip!
damn thats alot of miles. your a good friend!! when i was a kid my dad and i would go camping every year up in oregon and sleep in the back for his 3 weeks of vacation. i can remember pulling off the road and actually changing the oil w/ him!lol wouldnt be caught dead doing that sorta thing now. and when we had the original 350 in there she would always oil foul the #8 plug every few hundred miles and we would have to pull over and change that hot @ss plug. those were the days!LOL just another reason i love that truck so much!!

Re: 7000 mile roadtrip!
I've taken mine on three 1000's miles with the ZZ4. I bet it would make cross country without any problems. I think it likes weight. The best milage has been with several hundred pounds of weight. I'm still working on stabalizing engine temps around 194. The L98 Vette heads like heat.
I bet you got a lot of looks!! Some people have never seen such "old" trucks on the road. I get looks everytime I pass someone on the highway. |

Re: 7000 mile roadtrip!
really cool, it sounds like you had a lot of fun. Do you have the stock bench seat? I am shocked that you got 20-23 mpg running 3100 with a th350, thats real good, I wonder how much better it would be with an overdrive. I can't wait until mine is on the road lowered, with a V8, then I can make a few long runs this summer. Good times.
