Vin number search

Is there a way to search your vin number so you know where my truck was sold new.

This VIN decode will tell you everything that your VIN has in it... assuming it is a chevy we are talking about.

The VIN does tell you where your truck was built though.

You could look for a build sheet. It would give you the name/addy of the dealer the factory shipped to. Build sheets have been found behind the seat springs, under floor mats, etc. You may get lucky!!

In Canada it can be traced back to the dealer it was sold from and the options it came with for a fee from GM vintage services in Canada ,unfortunately for trucks sold in the US, I know of no options for the serching besides a dealer sheet in the truck somwhere.

according to redbook production #'s in 67 ..el caminos thru C-30 series there was 526,776 trucks made.
Wonder how many are still alive today?

I dont know I would like to know that. I have 33870 off of the line. I wonder if that was an early year model Considdering there were almost 600,000 made
