Re: so what did u do today

Lowered my truck, after the steering came loose going to the muffler shop. Got stopped before i hit anything. Got new flows and duels put on, and got my doner/parts for sale to get more parts home.

Re: so what did u do today

I just got mine back from the fabricators. He braised a patch over the hole in my roof and then took it all down to bare metal, primed, and painted it with a C/B white. (that's all I could afford, for now) The bottom is going to be Porsche red, I hope, some day. So I checked my service book and decided to change the oil. Used Shell Rotella T 15W-40 for the first time. Then I started to mount my new sport mirrors starting on the drivers side, but the plastic gasket that goes between the mirror and door was the wrong one. Those Taiwanians packed a right hand gasket in with my left hand mirror. Has a big R right on it. Why me? Now I have to try and return this, the gasket anyway. I bought it about 6 months ago.

Re: so what did u do today

Well, I didn't do a whole lot concerning, any time in the garage. I did spend most of the day with my wife and 3 month old boy.

Re: so what did u do today

Another board member (StevenB) and I hit the road and spent most of the day looking at craigslist finds...

First up was a 67 GMC 3/4 ton with buddy buckets and a 455 Buick engine and a T400, and Dana 60 pose, even had a bunch of new replacement panels still in the boxes.. Ended up buying it! (have to go back Mon and pick up)

Next up was a 68 1/2 ton long box for parts.. had a good right fender, mint grill and a few goodies, nice steel box floor.. seized 307 engine,T400 trans, junk hood, but he wanted $300 for the truck so we passed.

Then off to look at a 67 SWB truck for $1000.. what a shame it was toast!! was not a good piece on it! Major rust bucket..
Free to too expensive for that one..

Next was a 68 Burb 4X4 for free.. all that was left was the chassis and springs and a firewall.. the owner even offered to deliver it for gas money.. It now sits a StevenB's place, hopfully to go under his 68 Panel!!

Next was a 67 chev parts truck with a supposed nice hood.. well it was straight and rust free.. but had some bondo hiding some minor damage on the front.. ended up buying it and a tailgate for a reasonable amount..

Had two more on the list but was not able to make contact with the owners.. Darn.. but we were running out of day!

Then finally headed back to StevenB's with the owner of the 4x4 burb following us to drop off the chassis ..

Started out at 11am and got home about 7:30 this eve..

Whew what a day!!

Re: so what did u do today

Scraped and brushed about two dustpans full of dirt from the underside of my truck. Mostly oily dirt from the tranny crossmember and I knocked out and screwdrivered out alot of dirt and rust flake out of the cab supports to prevent any more rust. I doubt it has ever been done before today.

Re: so what did u do today

We were supposed to go to a house warming party today. Right before we were ready to go we found out it is next Saturday...that would have been embarrassing...

So I worked on my truck (ignition problem) so I could go to the dump and hopefully next weekend sometime I can haul oldirons truck up to him and get the Caddy close to coming here.

Walked around a junkyard looking at old iron for a few hours on Saturday and went to a small local car show today.
