I..give up, almost.
ive been looking for my first 71/72 c10 for 6-7 months now. several good leads, and a lot of 'already solds' later. i have nothing. i cant seem to find one for around $1500, mind you im not looking for anything close to perfect, i expect rust, holes, and less then stellar everything. i just cant seem to find anything. where have you all looked to find yours? im even willing to go with a different year.
Edit: i know nice first post. ive been lurking for awhile, half the time i dont even log in since i feel i dont know near as much as everyone else so i try to learn as much as i could before i contributed. Last edited by krenfro88; 02-24-2009 at 05:32 PM. |

Re: I..give up, almost.
You're going to have to move fast to find one that's not a hull for that kind of cash. I'm not saying that they're not out there, but when they show up they'll move quickly. My lil brother just sold a swb 72 "kit" for $1000. It was a LWB 72 that had a super solid cab and front clip and perfect doors. The truck had no engine or trans but it did have a clear title. He also let a 72 swb frame with all of the suspension intact go with it as well as a disassembled SWB fleet bed. The bed wasn't as nice as the cab and front clip, but it was serviceable. I wouldn't of let it go for a penny less then $1300 but it wasn't mine. Ride around and knock on some doors. Maybe someone will sell you one that's just taking up space in their yard,

Re: I..give up, almost.
im hoping to find something by summer. There was a 72 4x4 for sale on craigslist here, last 2 hours. found out my bestfriend bought it. needed all the brackets and accessories. turns out the advertised 454 was really a 600 C.I. aluminum block. but really im just looking for a 350/350 c10 with everything. minus a bed even..

Re: I..give up, almost.
Honestly, I would try and get something from out of that state. I know the surrounding states aren't much better... but Illinois throws salt like it doesn't matter... and your classic vehicles show it.
Are you able to increase your budget much at all? Do you have access to a tow rig and a trailer to drag one home on? Are you willing to get one with no motor, or needing engine or tranny work? Are you dead set on 71/72? 67 - 70 are basicly the same thing. |

Re: I..give up, almost.
honostly i can take almost anything. i have a friend who him, and his dad, know EVERYTHING about these trucks, and i will take something from the prior years. id be much happier taking something that needed work then without anything at all. my budget will probably grow as the time goes on
guess i missed this.. http://stlouis.craigslist.org/cto/1042775709.html no matter what i get, it will get a orange/white two tone paint job. Last edited by krenfro88; 02-24-2009 at 05:56 PM. |

Re: I..give up, almost.
I'm sorry I forgot to welcome you to the board in my previous post. Be sure to invite your friend and his dad to join us as well if they aren't here already. There's still a lot I don't know about these trucks....we could use someone who knows everything! Just joking pal! Just keep your eyes peeled and some cash in your pockets, the right truck will come along. It took me 9 months to find my last one. |

Re: I..give up, almost.
how far you willing to go outside your state. as longhorn man stated i think thats your better route. and as stllookn said also go west young man seems the further west you go the better. texas trucks seem to be great around the middle. and a lot of great deals around there and here in oklahoma. i have 2 sitting in my back yard no engines for next to nothing. just depends on how far away youre willing to go

Re: I..give up, almost.
I got two, if you're willing to make a drive and have a tow rig. Don't need a lot of work and you would have extra parts left over!
here.

Re: I..give up, almost.
look every day. With the economy as it is, many ppl are selling off there project, there beater, there old farm truck... what ever they can sell, they are selling it all just to pay the rent. Be quick, and have your cash within reach. I wouldn't even put it in the bank, have it hidden at home so you can tell a seller that you can be back in 20 min with X dollars.
Assuming you end up shopping locally. |
