I believe the earlier trim goes into the weather strip deeper then the later trim.

Re: 67-70 verses 71-71 windshield
There may be a more technical answer, but yes there are three different shapes to the cab, 67-68, 69-70, and 71-72 are all a little different. Of course to the untrained eye they all look the same, but if your put the wrong seal in it will leak in the upper corners. If any one has the technical explanation feel free to elaborate. Hope it clarified things for you. Cnut

You got me by the shorthairs on that one. I've had a few people tell me the difference in cabs but couldn't personally tell the difference. Cnut

Re: 67-70 verses 71-71 windshield
Like said before no difference in the windshield shape. Difference is only in the windshield molding trim. Must have the corresponding rubber for the thin or deeper trim molding. Sure someone will correct me. 71 or 72. I think, is the shallow trim and the deeper trim for previous years. Does that sound right?

Re: 67-70 verses 71-71 windshield
You are correct Sammy. The original 71-72 Stainless trim did not extend as deep into the rubber seal as did the 67-70. If you are not using the stainless trim, all the seals are the same.
If you want to use the stainless trim, make sure the trim and the rubber seal are compatible. In other words, 71-72 stainless (shallow type) must be installed in a rubber seal that has the shallow channel. And 67-70 stainless (deep type) must be installed in a rubber seal that has the deeper channel. Michael |

And don't buy aftermarket trim, it is worthless. Have that issue now.

Re: 67-70 verses 71-71 windshield
Absolutely, the trim depth goes under the glass(deep) or "above" the glass(shallow)

Re: 67-70 verses 71-71 windshield
We actually always use the deeper trim but our glass guy can put either in. It is all in the installer and we do use aftermarket trim made by counterparts.

Re: 67-70 verses 71-71 windshield
What is the measurement of the shallow and deep type? The reason I ask is I picked up my windshield trim (paid $5.00 complete) about 10 years ago, but can't for the life of me remember what year it came from. It measures 7/16" from the front to the rear (the part that is inside the seal). I'm finally going to be getting my new windshield and want to get the right seal. Cnut

Re: 67-70 verses 71-71 windshield
I had both sets of trim but no longer have them out to look at sorry.
Someone have both sets to measure? I thought the deep one was about 1/2 in, shallow newer trim around half that? But never actually stuck a ruller on it.

Re: 67-70 verses 71-71 windshield
I believe the shallow trim to be 1/4 to 5/16 or there-abouts.

Re: 67-70 verses 71-71 windshield
I have a 72 and the trim is installed now, but I know that it was not 7/16 deep at all...was definitely less. Do yourself a favor and get a good quality seal that your glass man advises. I had a seal that I bought and he declined to install it...said every time he puts one of those in a 67-72 has those unforgettable corner issues. Took his advise and so far so good.
