got my engine and tranny....

well i went and picked up my engine and tranny and discovered that the tranny is a 4l80e not a 4l60e. so i got a 6.0l vortec and a 4l80e with the computer and harness and all accessories ready to drop in for $900. i think i got a darn good deal. plus it has headers on it already!!!! i just hope they fit between the frame rails. they cut a few odd and end wires pulling the engine and harness. im gonna trace them down and find out what they are tomorrow. i have wiring diagrams and ecm pinouts to go by. i have a couple questions. firstly how many 02 sensors were on it? theres only one up front in the drivers side pipe. so i think one front sensor is missing. i know the rear ones are missing but they wont be used anyway. secondly how can i add controls in the cab and keep the cruise? heres some pics in a photobucket album. lemme know what you think and if yall think i got a good deal.
thanks,
John

That looks like a good deal. So I guess you didn't get the whole truck as originally planned? Hopefully you got everything you need to get the 6.0 running. What'cha going to do for a speedo?

Re: got my engine and tranny....

im going with aftermarket gauges. ive been eying this panel from nordskog for the simple fact that my cadillac has spoiled me to digital gauges. lol i read somewhere that that you still need to get a signal converter from dakota digital for it to work right. idk yet though.

Re: got my engine and tranny....

That sounds like a really good deal for a 6.0/4l80e. I was hoping to have my 5.3 to the point of cranking by now but I decided to pull the cab and the snowball started rolling...

Keep us posted on your progress!

Re: got my engine and tranny....

Hewlett,

Here is how I added cruise to my steering column.

I suppose that you have the cruise actuator with the engine. I see you have the fuse block, that will help a lot.

Good luck,

TR
