Tilt column question

Hey guys,

I'm trying to buy a tilt column from a guy, and he keeps tell me it's a
"skinny" shaft column.....this is how he explains it....

"Early GM tilt column. 2" OD column shaft. Original to 1967-72 Chevy PU. Popular with street rodders. Tight with no sloopiness. "

Can someone explain this to me?!?!?

Thanks for your help

Re: Tilt column question

he's used to selling them to the street rod guys and the 55 - 57 guys. They want to hear it is the smaller diameter instead of the later larger diameter piece.

Re: Tilt column question

In 73' when they moved the key to the column they made the housing bigger and are not as clean looking when swapping into a hotrod or other car.Vans kept the skinny ones till the 80's and are a good options for these swaps.

Re: Tilt column question

Tell him that the skinny ones are only worth half as much, not enough metal for a big truck, but you will make do with it for now
