POSI Question...
I know, it's been asked 100 times already,...
But... Here we go... If my truck is 50 miles away from me. So, I can't just go look at the rearend. And, I can no longer can read the SPID tag. Can a Axle housing code determine if a rearend is a posi or not? OK, I have the protect-o-plate code here.. it is... HC1219W I do have a code chart that shows me that HC = 3.73 1219 = I assume is the build date of DEC 19th (as my motor build date is 1220/DEC 20th) BUT, what does the W mean? Any thoughts.... Anyone...?

Re: POSI Question...
Im gonna say you are gonna have to jack the rear up and spin the tires. However, you could have a worn posi and it wont grab very good. The only surefire way is to pull the cover.

Re: POSI Question...
Do you have the build sheet? I think there is something on there that tells whether it's a posi or not.

Re: POSI Question...
If you have a posi, there should have been a sticker abover your jack. It would be a big white paper sticker with red lettering telling you not to jack up one side with the engine running iirc.

Re: POSI Question...
My Book states that the HC prefix is 1967--C14 Series (not sure what c14 is) positraction-3:73 Ratio
The W indicates The warren Plant
