Re: Need ideas for some kind of steering wheel

Classic Bowties beat me to it. That's my favorite of GM's wheels. MuscleFactory has them for $199 complete with install kit. Get one for a 67-68 Camaro since the column is same OD as truck. I had mine in my 70 GMC for awhile with the later adapter, which works, but just hangs over a 1/16" or so.

Re: Need ideas for some kind of steering wheel

A friend gave me a Trans Am wheel that I put on my '81 El Camino w/o any adapter. Of course, it may be that many of the aftermarket wheels you don't want are styled like the TA wheel.

I'd look at anything GM offered from the late sixties until air bags came out and see what looks good to you.

Re: Need ideas for some kind of steering wheel

That too is good advice. I have an 88-95 or so GMC wheel in my Jimmy. They have a nice fat grip and look good IMO. Cut just right where you can see the gauges through the spokes as well!

Mid 80's corvette wheel. It's leather too!
I have had both my hands operated on for corperal tunnel so the wrap is on it to help grip better. The doctor said the bigger the better so...

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Here's my Buick wheel, it's a little later than the 442 style, late '70's.

Re: Need ideas for some kind of steering wheel

Here is mine...i was going for the same kind of thing. Wanted something leather with an oldschool racing vibe. SO i went with a MOMO PROTIPO. Others may hate it but i love it.

Re: Need ideas for some kind of steering wheel

^Nice socks

I agree about the classic wheels like Classic Bowties and powell 72 have. I want one of those wheels but my belly gets in the way with the LeCarra I have now, so I definetly don't have room for a bigger wheel.
