I put the dash pad on and got the dash vents put back in. Also finished wiring the Vintage Air system. Also got some lock pulls. Only aluminum on the truck but I like em.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

I put dynamat on the doors. Both doors had a good amount of factory sprayed deadner in them so I put it on the door under the door panel. Put the carpet in. Still waiting on the sill plates to come in.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

I also put the Mar-K tailgate links on. Its a very simple thing to do to get rid of the chains. I welded mine to the gate as I didn't want any more bolt heads showing. My wife snapped one as I was cutting the tailgate inner pieces. Its a little blurry though.

Looks good. As for redneck repair, I think you are off the hook. You didn't use ductape.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

The seat looks good in the pic but up close you can see the imperfections. Small holes across the top where the back window is and a seam has seperated on the drivers side.I'm going to try to sew it up so it doesn't get any bigger.when I get some extra cash I'll order some of this plaid material and possibly the white.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

I started my tailight mod today. I trimmed the pieces that I got from Mike(backyard88 thanks). Welded them on and ground down the welds. I still have some more to grind down next to the fenders.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

Awesome build Chuck...you've done a lot of great work!....Couple Questions
1. I noticed you went with the Vintage air system over the Old air system....can you tell me what you didn't like about the old air system? (Brothers has the old air system for sale right now til April 30th for $899)
2. This maybe a rookie question, but when installing those sill plates, did you just drill your holes through the carpet or did you cut/ burn the carpet then drill (thought maybe drilling straight through would mess up the carpet??)

Thanks for your input and keep up the great work...it's almost spring/ summer!

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

Thanks George.I'm needing more time it seems these days to get anything done.

gcburdic, I really didn't look at old air that much. if I remember right when I looked at their site it wasn't very informative. I could have them confused with someone else though. Vintage Air seemed to be more informative to me than anyone else and I needed that since this my first install. I like the fact that it is seperate from all of the original wiring. Stand alone unit so it won't be a problem in the future. I remember a while back they had issues with fusebox meltdowns and such. I think they have the bugs worked out. I have a coworker with a 52 and he has it and said it is a great unit and he would buy another one if he had to.

As far as the sills, I did drill through the carpet while closely watching it to see if I were doing any damage to the carpet.
I got the cheaper ones off of ebay but I saw that Tim Christian from Christians Classics had stainless ones for the same price I paid. bummer.
btw the carpet is from ACC and I'm not impressed. I doesn't seem to be molded enough for my liking. But it is okay for a driver. If I were building a show truck I would have sent it back. It also didn't come with the grommet for the dimmer switch.bummer #2
hope this helps you some how.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

I went another route on my reverse lights. I went the easy way and got one of those license plate frames with the white l.e.d.s on the sides. not very bright in the day but the night is a different story. I plan on driving this pretty regular so I felt I needed something to let people know I'm coming back.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

I worked on the rear pillars also. I had to remove the rear fenders to grind the welds down on the side closest to them. The p.o. of the bed must have taken it apart and painted it as it was pretty clean under the fender.I will sand down the underside of the fender and paint it and then undercoat it, then reinstall it. All this after I finish the pillars.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

Well I finally have a bumper thanks to Travis who picked it up for me.. and brought it to Bryans (5150) meet. What a difference it makes. I like the frontend a lot better now. he also picked up my window trim. Thanks again!
