checking in to say HI to everyone. HI. I am new to this forum but am a member of several corvette forums, i have a 78 that i have restored. Just purchased a 1967 chevy truck,i will be the 2nd owner of it,has 283,auto trans, long bed 2WD,it is in California and i am flying out this Friday to meet up with the auto transport guy i hired to bring it back to Missouri. I saw it last August when i was out there with my vette for a cruise in and decided i had to have it,the truck is very clean, low miles and as far as i could tell was pretty much all original, really about all it needs is new paint, that southern Ca sun is hard on paint, and no rust anywhere on the truck that i could find. when i get it back here sometime next week i will post up some pics of it.
I paid $2,500 for the truck, could not turn it down for that price.

Later

1345 miles is quite a long trip, and i want to get it home and check out all the mechanical s first and get some new tires on it,the ones that are on it now are pretty old and hard,i did think about driving it back the owner saw no reason why it should not make the trip, but it has not been driven much in years, just short trips,so i am going to play it safe. I plan on using the truck as a daily driver and quit driving my chevy diesel so much, the vette is not a good daily driver, poor fuel mileage and $10 bucks a gallon for gas gets expensive,it has a far from stock motor in it. The 283 is staying in the truck.

Longhorn Man! my first vehicle that i purchased when i was 15 was a 1970 chevy Long Horn, wish i had not sold that truck and had kept it,if i only knew then what i know now about the rising value of vehicles of course this was back in 1984 when i sold it.

When it gets here i will post plenty of pic's,and pick your guy's brains about this truck, can't wait for it to get here.

Corvette guys are - um - let's say different. I say this having owned a few, but there's a bunch of the hardcore Corvette guys that seem to think they are on a higher rung of the ladder of self-worth because they own a 'Vette. This is very close knit board, and you won't find a better bunch of guys and gals anywhere on the net.

Re: New member

Welcome and Congrats!! Personally i think a vette is nothing but a hunk of fiberglass on some wheels!! But i will give them cudos on the drive terrain and I wouldnt pass up a 67 convertible 427 4speed if it were give to me anyway. Good luck with the truck and I say drive it back as well!! Nothing like a 1400 mile road trip to work out the bugs. Just bring your tools and watch the stickers you put on the cooler you keep them in LOL.

You will like it here, it is pretty relaxed and the mods do a great job keeping things under control. Just read the rules and don't talk about religion or politics, and you'll enjoy it immensely.

That is why I got rid of both of mine. It use to crack me up when I went to the club functions, when I drove my 80 the newer c5 crowd would not talk to me and when I drove my 03 C5 the c5 crowd would talk to me. Now there were a few members who would talk to me no matter which one I was in. The second reason is that I see Corvettes everywhere.

What I wish I never got rid of was my 05 LS6/six speed SSR.

I don't know how most of us can be anything BUT upside-down when owning a vehicle.....unless we got it on the cheap and didn't do anything to it and the thing appreciated for some unknown reason.

But, Welcome! from the Heart of Arkansas!
