Re: WTB- Sandalwood steering wheel-still looking!
ttt found one on a 1972 camper van any by pics on craigslist, looks to be crack free. But the guy does not want to sell it. I mean the whole thing is for sale for 1600 and Iii offered to put a real good black one in it's place and give some cash but no. So please keep looking before I pull out the paint option...

Re: WTB- Sandalwood steering wheel-still looking!
I have to share this true story and advice.
Back in the late 80's I was looking high and low for an original 348 tri power air cleaner off a air car for a frame off #'s matching 58 Impala convertible I had restored. One year only style and off an ac or level air car only so I knew this was the needle in the hay stack search. I had searched everywhere for about 3 years and I got the idea to just post an ad in a major newspaper in the antique car section that I would pay $1000 for a correct tri power air cleaner with snorkels in the 4 and 6 o'clock position. Man did the phone ring for weeks with everyone wanting in on a finders fee or saying they had one or used to have one and some saying I was just crazy. All described theirs to me and were not the right ones or were time wasted searches. A week went by and I get a collect phone call from a pay phone from a town 150 miles from my home from a dirt poor guy with a family of 8 kids. He described it to me while holding it. He said it wasn't in that good of shape cause the garage it was in had fallen over years ago but it was taken off from a brand new 58 his neighbor had 30 years ago. I got his address and said I would be down in a few hours and jumped in the Corvette and drove straight down to Missouri where he lived. Got to the address he gave me on this old run down house on the edge of town and sitting out on the porch was this perfect shape surface rusted but absolutely the holy grail correct air cleaner and the very poor man came out with all these little kids and said I know it aint worth no $1000 that a guy at the plant said you was lookin to pay but do you suppose $50 would be too much to ask? I pulled out the $1000 cash I had been carrying and handed it to his wife standing in tears and said I better go to church this Sunday and thank God for fine people like you. I never in my life got to see so many happy faces attacking me and feeling great about making their day too. Had to share my story but it's 100% true and those parts are out there when real money is offered as it spreads talk everywhere. Sorry but I don't have your wheel either. Good luck.

Re: WTB- Sandalwood steering wheel-still looking!
I have a potential solution for you. If you look at Ebay listing 220380835025 you will see your wheel. Notice the correct wheel on this truck should be "Saddle" color. I have an NOS saddle wheel I offered to the person listing the truck in exchange for the Sandalwood wheel shown. Please try to get this trade done. I will sell my NOS saddle wheel for $350 if you can get this trade done.

Re: WTB- Sandalwood steering wheel-still looking!
So, you have contacted the guy? Was the wheel replaced because I see your point, that wheel that he has looks to be wrong. Was he open to the suggestion? I would make a deal like that.

Re: WTB- Sandalwood steering wheel-still looking!
I did not hear back from the seller. I sent a message via "Ask seller a question" in Ebay. I do not know how to contact the seller otherwise.
Good Luck! |

Re: WTB- Sandalwood steering wheel-still looking!
Still looking for this steering wheel. If it is at your house and in your way, I have a place for it. It will be loved and cared for, armor-alled at appropriate intervals and never touched with greasy hands. Happy Easter to you all!
