700r4 gap!!!!!
just finished bolting in my 700r4 and i noticed that with the torque converter slid all the way back there is a 1/4 inch gap between the flexplate and the torque converter, is this normal? I called the guy that rebuilt the transmission and he has not called me back yet,
thanks in advance

Re: 700r4 gap!!!!!
From my tranny guy, You don't want to pull the torque converter to far out of the tranny to bolt it up. I used two smaller flat washers for each bolt to mount mine. It also had a 1/4" gap. I did this a few years back and everything is working fine.

Re: 700r4 gap!!!!!
it's normal if you did it right. Slide the converter forward and bolt it to the flexplate.

Re: 700r4 gap!!!!!
I use washers to shim it until there is only an 1/8 gap maximum myself. I'm sure 1/4 is fine too though. When I worked in a shop, I sent a bunch of them out the door without shimming that were at least that far back.
