Dana 60 SRW vs DRW
Just a curiosity I had this morning...being a rookie at this stuff.
Can someone explain the difference between a Dana 60 from a SRW truck or one that came from a DRW truck? Is it all in the hub? Ive heard you would need hummer rims unless you changed the DRW to SRW style....That leads me to believe the offset or diameter of the hub is different? Any other differences? THANKS!

Re: Dana 60 SRW vs DRW
Ya, it's all in the wheel hub assy. THe DRW extends the wheel out, not sure how far but I would guess a good 3" or so. The hummer wheels(H1) have a 7" off-set. Some like to run the DRW fronts so they don't have to re-center the H1 wheels. I have re-centered H1s on a SRW 60.

Re: Dana 60 SRW vs DRW
Thanks Burt
So any normal 8 lug rim would bolt up to it....but DRW style are overall about 6" wider so to counter that a hummer rim has roughly 3" more backspace on each wheel. Wouldnt you need re-centered rims for rear and nun-modified Hummer rims for the front then to keep the DRW hubs and have it all be the same width on the ground?

Re: Dana 60 SRW vs DRW
Well the one guy I know that is running non-recenterd H1s & a DRW 60 is also running non-recenterd in the rear, 14FF.Not sure if the tires hit the dirt on the same track or not?
The engineers at GM once thought it is best to have the front tracks wider than the rear. That is how our K5s came from factory, The D44 front is 1.5" wider on each side than the factory 12bolt.

Re: Dana 60 SRW vs DRW
He probably retained that old engineers concept in his current setup. the 14bff is wider by a few inches, but the d60 drw even more. over all the same affect sounds like

Re: Dana 60 SRW vs DRW
I remember....well I think I do hahahha
The 14FF he used with his DRW front 60 was out of a GM Van. I seam to recal the Van's 14FF is wider than the Pick-ups...

Re: Dana 60 SRW vs DRW
99% pos he used a dually 14bff rear with his DRW 60 front.
Never heard of running stock H1s on a SRW rear. track width difference would be WILD.
