Adding weight for traction
Has anyone here added weight to the rear of the frame of your truck? I was trying to get some ideas before I start putting my truck back together.

Re: Adding weight for traction
All you need is a set of slicks on these trucks, and they work, you can tune it with shock relocaters and pinion shims , other than that i will leave,,, good luck vince

You could move the fuel tank to under the bed.

Re: Adding weight for traction
Depends on what you're going to do.... If you just want to increase traction for normal driving, then the above recommendations are what I would do. If you want traction because of weather conditions, the old sandbags are your best bet.
However, if you want weight/traction for racing, that's a totally different thing and would require some bucks. Stacey David of Gearztv show had a good one recently where he fixed up an old (I think 68-69) Dodge truck for better traction and less bouncing when racing. Might want to check out his site to see if you can find it or shoot him a note. http://www.staceydavid.com/index.php?content=home |

One of my buddies dad always put a 4x8 sheet of steel back there, been too long to tell you how thick it was.
