Question dodge dana axle swap

found two sets of dana 60's 70's SRW both in 90-93 dodge rams , one has 3.54 gears so wouldnt that be a dana 61? not sure of other but since it is close in year what are the chances of it being a 61 also? dont know what dodge used can also get transfer case and automatic transmission with 12 valve cummins diesel, what parts can i swap into a chevy blazer or pickup, or would it be best to just mount my 1970 c20 cab on the dodge frame any body try that before? i know anything can be done but with limited fabrication equipment and time should i just grab the axles and transfer case and run with that?

Re: dodge dana axle swap

If it was a 61 it would have 3:07 gears as it was the only ratio offerd in a 61.That was the reason for a makin a 61 was to get a higher ratio in the housing. The case will be a 23 spline figure eight pattern 205 and will not work on any Chevy trans without a input swap.If it was cheap I would get it to sell and offset the price of the axles. The Dodge front will work under a Chevy it's just a tad bit wider on the ps(1.5 or so IIRC).

Yup, Dana 60, the doge fronts are 1" wider on the spring purches, the tranfercase is a 205 and the tranny, I forgot the # but it is basicly a 727 with overdrive, a year or so later they went electronic.

I may be wrong, but I think some of the 61's had 3.54 gears also. I know if it has 4.10's it isn't a 61. The best way to check is to run the bill of material number in dana's website.

Don't junk it if it is a 61, there are ways to make it useable, but I am tired and can't think of a good way to explain it at the moment. If you search over at pirate4x4, I know it is covered there.

Re: dodge dana axle swap

IIRC you have to use a 4:56 up carrier and a gear spacer to use 4:10's.It's been a while so I might be mistaken.

On a d60 front axle, at least what he is talking about, the spring perch for the passenger side spring is part of the pumpkin.
