The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Re: Street/Strip

Funny, I just got rid of my 2001 330CI and am driving my 66 GMC daily now.

quoted $1000.00 for work on the cooling system with a $3000.00 follow up for the motor on the bimmer.

Replaced the waterpump on the truck for 28 bucks.

I'm not likely to win any races in the old Jimmy, though.

Wish I knew enough to help you out, cant give you any advice- but I can cheer you on from the sidelines.

Re: Street/Strip

Dont know crap about quick change rear ends.....they look cool.....but, the quick ratio steering box is kick-butt. I got mine from a friend who didnt use it and didnt know what it was until I got my truck on the road. I handles like a SLOTCAR. So, if you have to buy one get the quick ratio. I love mine.

Re: Street/Strip

I don't know much about quickchange rearends, but I hear that the winters units can handle upwards of 1400 hp. But as common as they are in dirt track cars, I would start asking around the dirt track forums especially in the late model, and sprint car sections.

Re: Street/Strip

Here is some more food for thought, unless you really want the retro look of the quick change, why not go with a ford 9" and a gear vendors overdrive?

i thought about the gear vendors.. but the 2700+ price tag hurts a lil.. id like to have money left over for other things... i found a halibrand on craigslist for 750.. i think thatd be easier.. idk..

Re: Street/Strip

Winters is the cheapest and has alot of parts avalible and the good thing about them one set of gears is actually two like 6.00\4.10 for instance because they interchange on the shafts. You will have to make your own mounts cause nobody makes them for this year truck but should be fairley easy.
