Name that brake part - pic inside
Just picked up a 5 lug SWB disk brake frame and this was the reservoir that was on the frame-
Does anybody know the year of the reservoir pictured - or how easily it can be used. Any way to tell the 71/72 stuff from the 73+ brake stuff easily? Thanks everybody! |

yep, alluminum master cylinder with a plastic reservoir... I think that started in 88? maybe a couple years earlier maybe?
If you removed it and took it to a good parts house (a good nape) they might be able to cross some numbers on it for a vehicle aplication. Personally i don't like mixing brake parts from one model to another though. |

Nah, it's not that exotic. My 83 Chevy truck used that same master cylinder.
If you post pictures of the front suspension and brake calipers, I can ID the year range of the suspension and the brake hydraulics.

Re: Name that brake part - pic inside
To my memory, those F body master cylinders run uphill a pretty good amount when viewed from the side. They had very wedge shaped resorvoirs because of this to make the lid horizontal.
Am I getting fuzzy in the old memory bank ?

I do think your right, I can pop the hood on the car tomorrow and double check. It's been so long since I've bothered with it, but it's still in the family.
