Trailing arm bushing
I am about to replace the trialing arm bushings in my '69. Is there an easy way to get them out?

Re: Trailing arm bushing
I have used a c-clamp with a socket to push em out, i also recently used a balljoint tool to remove/replace. I have heard of ppl burning the rubber out with a propane torch etc. good luck with your approach...

Re: Trailing arm bushing
They come out fairly easy, with an air chisel. I just replaced mine, and used and air chisel, and vibrated them out. With the arms on my bench, I was done in less than thirty minutes. I bought a set of used arms from a board member, and knocked out the old bushings before they went to the powdercoater. When I got them back I set them on the bench, and used a large socket that would set on the outside shoulder of the bushings, and a BFH and away we go

15 seconds in the press. No smoke, no drippy rubber.

Re: Trailing arm bushing
I heated them slightly with a heat gun and then pressed a socket through and everything came out.

Re: Trailing arm bushing
yea the smoke is pretty nasty and i'm sure its not good for you. Best to do in the open air. Make sure your dog is in the house, mine likes to stay close to me and I was afraid she would step on the hot rubber.ooouuuch
