On the cap, the order is 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2. I think that's what you meant? For a v8 that is.

The #1 cylinder wire is the front cyl. on the drivers side. that's your strating wire.........

Can't remeber for sure where to start on the distributor................

best bet is to pull number one plug and find #1 on top dead center by feeling the compression ( you'll want to enlist help) pull the disbributor cap and find where the rotor is pointing (that's your starting poing)

from there just go clockwise with the rest of the plug wires with the firing order that grease monkey gave you......

For reference in the future...........the more detail you can post about your problem or what you are trying to do will help board members help you.

and no question or problem is unsolveable...........

People and businesses alike on this board are more than helpful.............

Good Luck................

Since you haven't pulled your distributor or loosened the distributor hold-down this should be easy:

1. Pull all your spark plugs, and using either your hands to turn the flex plate or a breaker bar to turn the center bolt on the ballancer rotate the engine until the #1 cylinder is at TDC (Top Dead Center).

2. Pull the distributor cap and note the firing position of the rotor. That's about where the #1 distributor wire goes (see attached diagram - I might have them swapped for points and HEI).

3. Start by putting the #1 in place and working your way clockwise plug the wires in as so:

1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
