Sorry dude that sucks about the swap. I've had the flywheel bolts back out on me before destroying the flywheel and starter. LOCKTITE.

Sucks about the swap. It's a shame that they make it so hard for you to make your vehicle run cleaner.

If anything, sell the AWD trans and pick up a 2WD version.

Can't do it. They are freakin' Nazi's out here.

So, took the truck in. Found out the torque converter was cracked too.

Good times...

I would but the money is too good. Then there's family, and the girlfriend, the list goes on...

So, the shop wants to rebuild the whole transmission. I told them no because the total bill would come out to what a new performance 700R4 would cost. I'll take my chances.

This could be corrected on local, state ,and national election day but I think a majority of voters are just plain ignorant . Texas . Come to Texas .

Are we still welcome in Texas if you leave the union? Because I will be there. I hate winter!

I would at least have them do a run-out on the input shaft.

Re: Need help! Sounds like an empty soda can...

When I bought my truck last year I was living in Tuolumne County (California). That's one of the counties that only require a smog when the vehicle is sold instead of annually. So, swap back to whatever will get you smogged, get a P.O. Box in the Foothills, then do what you want and hope the smog rules don't change. That should hold you until the job, family, and girl friend aren't worth as much as your truck then you can move. (Be careful though, I think the death penalty may apply to air quality offenses in California.)

I had trouble getting my truck smogged because my carb was missing some sort of vacuum plunger. All my numbers were well under the limits but it didn't pass the visual inspection. The part is no longer available so I had to have it located and shipped from a junk yard in Los Angeles. $125 for the part and another smog fee later, the part was installed and the truck passed but NONE of my emission numbers changed. What a racket.

(Sorry about the bolt damage.)

Re: Need help! Sounds like an empty soda can...

Got the truck back. Trans is smooth as silk now. Also installed the Corvette servo while they were at it. No bog on the 1 --> 2 anymore too. God bless. Also, I would recommend the shop I took the truck to to anyone in the area. Stand-up guys in every sense of the word. Totally old school, totally knowledgeable and totally cheap. $376 for new flex plate, torque converter, and labor. These guys rock!!!
