What is a 1972 Cheyenne Super Worth

I have a good driver factory big block truck 1/2 ton long bed with tilt wheel, tac, ac that is working and a 308 lim slip rear.Truck runs and drives very good,it does have the normal rust in the bottom of the doors, rockers and cab corners.I would like to know what a good selling price would be.Thanks for your opinions.

Not sure what its worth but you should be fine. You have a blue name which means you subscribed. As far as worth.. its worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

Re: What is a 1972 Cheyenne Super Worth

I would say $3,500.00 to $5,000.00 I would probably pay around that with a little better description of the truck. One went on here with some pretty decent rust for $3,200.00 if I remember correctly.

What side of TX are you on and would the truck be able to make a road trip from your place back to Tennessee?

Re: What is a 1972 Cheyenne Super Worth

As you are a "new guy" and a site supporter from the get go we won't take you out behind the woodshead and woop ya like a bad stepchild for asking the dreaded "what's it worth"? question.

For a longbed in nice driver truck condition I think the 3,500 to 5k that Cdowns sugested is probably right in the ballpark.

The Cheyanne Super trim, *working ac* and bigblock are all in the plus catagory.

If it were mine and I was trying to sell it I think the only thing I would probably do outside of a good cleanup that it may not need is to get a first rate originial style and color seat cover from one of the good vendors and do the seat back to "looks new". That saddleblanket seat cover as nice as it is really takes away from the looks of the interior when you are trying to get top dollar out of the truck. That might cost a few hundred dollars to do but should reap a pretty big reward when someone is really interested in buying the truck walks up to it the first time. That and a really good but not overdone detail job in the engine compartment and under the truck.

Re: What is a 1972 Cheyenne Super Worth

Looks like a solid truck. My guess was going to be $4000-6000 min. if it was cleaned up and the seat fixed as mr48chev recommended. With a 402BB, working ac, tilt, and 400 automatic...I think you should do well. The SWB doesn't bother me a bit but to some it may reduce desirability. But as I said I like a LWB truck. Good Luck.
By the way 72BBC and from Ohio.

Re: What is a 1972 Cheyenne Super Worth

AS nice as that truck looks I would buy it for 6500 and transfer it to my short bed frame and box. I wouldn't think twice but I don't have the cash. I would be the right person even though I am a 67 68 front end guy. Now all you have to do is find the right person with some money that could be tricky. Why are you selling if you dont mind me asking. What kind of shape is the motor in. Looks fairly clean

Re: What is a 1972 Cheyenne Super Worth

Prices are getting closer to what I was looking for. Although the option tag is gone I have checked the numbers.Block and heads are date code correct,400 trans I believe is correct also.Has correct carb also.I have to say I am 95 % sure this is a original numbers matching truck. As far as the seat it has the original under the cover that had a partial repair on the drivers side and is split on one of the seams.

Re: What is a 1972 Cheyenne Super Worth

The motor does not smoke and has strong oil pressure and runs excellent.I am selling to buy 98-99 tahoe or extended cab gm truck.Wife is in a lease truck thats going back so it will save me a car note, plus my girl is going to be driving soon.Planning for the future ha.ha.I would do a trade and take a little cash for the right truck.

My truck is insured for $12,000. Anybody that would pay $12K for my truck needs to pass the peace pipe! I haven't taken the keys out of it or locked it in 3 years... Nobody's taken it yet, dang the luck! HAHA

Re: What is a 1972 Cheyenne Super Worth

I mentioned redoing the seat (or possibly having the original cover repaired) because I believe that the guys most likely to fork over the money it should be worth would probably be a lot more interested in it if the seat looked as good as the rest of the truck. First impression thing when they see the truck.
Plus it's a lot easier to get their wive/girlfriend to like it if the seat really looks nice.

Only bad thing about redoing seat it would look better than everything on the truck. It has the old school look for now. Thanks for your input.

Re: What is a 1972 Cheyenne Super Worth

Being a long wheel base hurts the price considering its a Super ... if it was a short wheel base truck it would easily bring the $7,000-$7,500 you are hoping for.
