Newb in MN

Hello, I am picking up a Camo'd 69 Chevy long bed dirt cheap ($200) 6/3speed stick soon to use as a break in truck for my fresh 468 BBC. Nothing fancy just an over powered sleeper/beater w bolt on parts. (knowing me tho, it will progress beyond that) I will have many questions in the future as to lowering, BBC install, disc brakes etc. I'll also need a 6 lug posi rear end. All seem to be common modifications. But new to me as my experiance has been mostly pre 48 street rods.(20 + years)and 60's GM muscle back in the 70's.
Having only seen the truck once and not getting the title yet. I am not sure as to the year. With that hood and clearence lights I think it is a 69. I also have this 68 as a parts truck too far gone to rebuild in my opinion it has the earlier sloped hood I would like to use.

Re: Newb in MN

the rear doesnt matter if it is a six or five lug it just depends on if it is the same housing
it should be an 8.75 12 bolt
they didnt do too bad on the paint(didnt paint the lights)
can you get some pics of the front
here is a 69 grill

Re: Newb in MN

I am going back out there next sat for a second look and get it ready to move.I will get more pics then. The only requirement for 6 lugs is that I have Ansen 15x6 and 15x8 six lug alum big hole slots ready to go. Aquired from a 41 Chevy coupe I did awhile back. Definately will give it that bada-- look.

Re: Newb in MN

I was not aware of that thanks. I think it has the earlier 67-8 grille but that is definately a 69 up hood. I was still on some pain meds from having 11 teeth pulled so my memory is a little faded. I looked at 7 trucks that day. If this one has a 12 bolt all I will need is a posi unit I think, I can set up the gears if posi and non posi are the same set(I believe they are) and in good shape.

Re: Newb in MN

Its a 69 according to the park and marker lamps. Went out and got more pics as well as some of the avail. trucks for parts. Kind of wierd every one has the full gauge package always thought that was a CST or option item only
(NO! None are for sale or parts off of them until mine is together and on the road. Be a LONG while don't ask)

Re: Newb in MN

Thing is they are not mine, but I can take stuff off as or if I need it. He has said that nothing more is for sale right now even tho I told him that I could get rid of parts or trucks for him. If I bring anyone out there the deal is off., I am also trying to score on this older 60's (62-65, not sure which)Chev PU so I do not want to PHO.

Re: Newb in MN

Thanks, If memory serves that is a better year than the earlier models (torsion bar years) for modifying. I am a low but not low rider BBC power freak. Yep, long bed I think. Next week, One or both will be here(69 + 65).
