Windshield install

OK, does anyone have any pics of the install....

I have the general directions everyone gives...

put gasket on window...

put rope in slit and install by pushing window and drawing string out slowly...

Well, heck, I don't even know If i'm putting the gasket on right....

it has a big gap, with a inner ridge with ribs....

and a smaller gap on the outside....

Which goes where.....

here is the way I am putting the gasket on...

here is the other slit....does it go on the cab?

Thanks for the help....

Re: Windshield install

Bite the bullet and go to a glass shop. My brother, an experienced glass man, and I tried to install the windshield with molding on my 64. Fought it for 2 hours. Later I took it to the shop, where they put 5 pairs of hands on it, and it went right in! I had them install the rest of the glass in my Suburban while there-done in an hour and a half. I think I just paid shop labor, about $150. I think they cut me a bit of a break on price. For just the windshield, it would probably be around $50(?).

Re: Windshield install

yea, glass shop is the only way to go. "You can't beat a man at his profession."
And, none of them will warranty the glass if it's not theirs.
Look in the yellow pages. Most of the nationwide chains will come to your house and install it. I've used Safelite Auto Glass before, They came to my house and charged $125.
