Wrong BB Engine Mounts
A while back I found that Summit sold replacement mounts which from there photo looked like a match to mine, and only $4.95 each. So I sent pics of my mounts to Summit so there tech guy could compare mine with the ones they sell (just to be sure) and they confirmed they were a stock replacement. Yesterday I struggled to remove the worst mount on my truck ready to install my shiny new one from Summit and as soon as they where side by side it was plain to see they were not the same size...B*****ks. I have to really try and avoid things like this happening as i'm in the UK and sending these back would not be cost effective, not to mention all the added time and hassle.
So as I start a new hunt for new Engine Mounts, doe's anyone know what I should be specifically asking for to avoid this happening again.

Re: Wrong BB Engine Mounts
dont know where you went wrong, or where summit went wrong..... could you get by by elongating the holes, and using washers when bolting back in. I have heard of ppl getting them from Napa etc.

Re: Wrong BB Engine Mounts
That was my first thought my67chevytruck.....after i'd kicked my ass up & down the street but it's not just the holes, it's all wrong...height,lenght,width & size of the rubber cushion inside.

Re: Wrong BB Engine Mounts
Too bad they didn't work out, that would have been a killer deal. That sucks, those BB mounts can get a little pricey!

Re: Wrong BB Engine Mounts
Classic Industries shows the mount for your truck on their web catalog as #T83132, although their print catalog shows that number fitting 73 and later trucks. go to www.classicindustries.com and ask them if that number will work for your truck. LMC doesn't show it for your truck either. Year one shows GM original mounts for your truck, but doesn't show a picture of it online or in their catalog. If I find what you are looking for I will let you know.

Re: Wrong BB Engine Mounts
I can get you a pair of Genuine GM motor mounts. They have been discontinued, but I have located about 6 of them. They are $90.00 each though. WES

I think these things are all one unit and can't be broken up...thanks for the suggestions mate. I'll go with Classic Parts, provided they are the same size....so if anybody wants a set of mounts?

Re: Wrong BB Engine Mounts
The only reason that I suggested that is because you will probably find the same thing with most aftermarket mounts. I would hate to see you get the same thing again. WES

Re: Wrong BB Engine Mounts
Those are not like my BB mounts at all. What year are those for? My BB mounts are the 3 hole type just like the SB mounts and there in a 72. I don't have a clamshell or anything. Were there more than one type of mount for BB's?

Re: Wrong BB Engine Mounts
Dynomutt you have 68-71 style mounts not correct for 72 model trucks, 72 uses the clam shell type simila to those found on 73 -up models.

Re: Wrong BB Engine Mounts
[QUOTE=eightbanger;3343460]I'll give them a ring Charles, just to make sure on the dimensions I hope they're right. It was the price tag at Summit that swayed me...Thanks mate.
Hey Wes, I am a sucker for original GM...but at $90 a pop and the shipping my wife will have my nuts in the blender I think these things are all one unit and can't be broken up...thanks for the suggestions mate. I was referring to the clamshells that mount to the motor, was wondering if they would line up and bolt to the summit replacements
