gas tank straps!!!!!!!

wondering if anyone knows where you can buy the bracket that the tank straps attach to, and that actually hold the tank to the frame. its a 78, with 20 gallon tanks.

Re: gas tank straps!!!!!!!

man i just looked them up in lmc, classic industries, and classic parts for ya and no luck... just the straps themselves. my best suggestion would be pick n pull. just sandblast them and paint them good as new. good luck man, Dennis

x2...I have only seen the straps for sale, not the brackets. Sounds like your local Salvage yard is your best bet.

If you don't have any local salvage yards, or just want an easy "score", you can spend the $25 to become a subscribing member of this site. At that point you can place a "wanted" ad. Till then tho, you're limited.

Re: gas tank straps!!!!!!!

Sorry about my last. I'll be calling you.
I've spent many hours searching out junkyard replacements, and now I can direct others to a vendor! How cool.
Todd.

Re: gas tank straps!!!!!!!

Check around for people parting out trucks in your area (CL etc). I got the tank brackets for my truck as a bundle because they were attached to the tank. Didn't need the tank (wouldn't fit, 20 gal) so I sold it, minus the brackets. Bingo! Set of brackets, $20.

Re: gas tank straps!!!!!!!

They're still availble brand new from GM for under $40 each. It's a little pricey, but they're new parts. If anyone would like, I can get some GM part numbers for people to check they're local dealers.
