Lightbulb What are you guys doing with your np205's?

Hi everyone,

http://jbfab.net/Merchant2/merchant...._Code=Shifters whatcha think?
I have been reading a lot about clocking rings and stuff I don't understand. So maybe if your guys can tell me what mods your running and what the mod does in lamens... That would be cool!!

what, may I ask, is wrong with your stock shifter. It has been my understanding that twin stick shifters only come into play with an NP205/203 Doubler t.c.

Re: What are you guys doing with your np205's?

you can twin stick a 205 but it just makes it so that you can use one stick for 4 wheel drive and 2 wheel drive and one stick for high and low range its been awhile since i have seen one to remember how it was done but i know you can do it

Re: What are you guys doing with your np205's?

I have thought about doing the twin stick thing to my mud truck.I think it would help me and there is a certain cool factor to it also.My axles are locked. Some of the places I run there is some tight turning so I'm in and out of 4by.The difference is about a 1/2 inch between 4by and 2by with the factory shifter and the ground is usually pretty rough. I really want something with a longer throw so in low light conditions you can just reach over and "feel" that it is in 4by.2/3rds of the races my class runs are in the dark.

Negative with the kit I posted you can use front wheel drive only or rear wheel drive low...requires internal mod and to the shift rail as well... no one running clocking rings or nothing?

Re: What are you guys doing with your np205's?

I do know that I need to replace some seals. After that, clean, then paint. Though, I need to replace every other seal too. Except axles....

Smile Re: What are you guys doing with your np205's?

Years ago I made a twinstick set up on my orange blazer. I use 2 low all the time when I'm "wheelin". Most of the time you don't need 4wd but being able to drive in low range 2wd is nice. When I made my set up they didn't sell a kit yet. I came across an article in Petersons a few years ago on how to modify your stock shift rail. I have never got around to doing this. Without modifying the rail you can't use front wheel drive only. At least I'm guessing thats why I can't on mine.

Re: What are you guys doing with your np205's?

Mostly I'm just adding gear grease to mine... need to fix that leak!

I twin-sticked mine when I swapped it in to replace my blown T-221. I did NOT make the internal mods. So I have 1 stick that is HI-N-LO for the rear axle & the other stick is HI-N-LO for the front axle. W/O the mod, you must move the rear shifter, and then the front. To come out, you have to move the front shifter and then the rear...
Did I need it, no, but it was only $20 more than a new single stick kit, and the X-fer I got had no shifter. Mostly, it's a cool factor in my truck. I'll never use it to drag the back end around. If I ever open the X-fer up, I'll make the mod. Again, don't need to, but want to.
