Need Help with bedside???

I started taking my bed apart for a wood conversion. The previous owner decided to tub the rear and went crazy with the welder. The pics show what i ended up with between the rust and welding when taken apart.

Is this going to be a major problem when I start to reassemble everything. It looks pretty bad to me but would appreciate any help from you guys. I am trying to stay away from getting another bed side and have no welding skills at all!

Thanks

Mar-K only makes the repair panels for the 58-59 and the 60-66 versions. Probably because those bed sides are not availabel repo.

True We are dealers for them but you can use the 67-72 adaptor flanges instead and weld them in. We have done it. Its just a flange. the holes won't line up but you can make new holes. part number 100626.

I don't think he has access to a brake but you can make or get some made. Its just an easy fix but they have to be welded.

Re: Need Help with bedside???

Which website is the part number for, I found 100625 on Mar-K. Is that the same part? I should be able to find someone that can weld that piece in for me.

Thanks again for your help

Re: Need Help with bedside???

Now is a good time to take a welding class at your local community college, buy a small mig welder and start welding. It's not nearly as hard as it seems, just takes lots of practice to get good at it. Having your own welder helps so much when trying to rebuild these trucks.

Re: Need Help with bedside???

Yeah that would be a good idea since I live about a block away from the college. haha. Between work, working on my truck, and other activities i enjoy (sports) I dont think my GF would let that fly. haha. Im still pretty young so someday I will learn, especially since I dont see this being my only project.
