suspension help needed

I have a 77 stepside. I purchased it already lowered. I measured the height from ground to edge of fenders and the front is 28" and the rear is 27 1/2". I am not sure how the guy dropped it 4" in front. It does have new springs in it. The rear has 7 leafs plus a overload spring and it has a flip kit on it. I am wondering if I remove the overload spring would it raise the rear the 1/2" to bring it up to 28" so the truck will sit level?

Re: suspension help needed

if you have a flip, it would bring it up the thickness of the overload.. one could imagine anyway... just drop the front more

Re: suspension help needed

If the overlaod spring you refer to is a 3/4" leaf at the bottom of the pack removing it will not help. If anything it might be holding your truck up a bit. If you remove it this may allow your spring pack to sag some and lower it even more.

Does it have a lowering shackle on it?

Re: suspension help needed

they do make lifting shackles, this would be the easiest way to get 1/2 back

Re: suspension help needed

I just want it to sit level. I am not sure how they came up with 4" drop in front. Most of the kits I have seen have 2 1/2" spindle drop with 1 or 2" Springs. The rear is at 27 1/2" That would mean a 6 1/2 drop over stock. Is that normal of a flip kit? It appears to have stock rear shocks on it with no extenders and no C notch.

Re: suspension help needed

depends on if the springs are old and saggy. I mean on average it usually just drops whatever the thickness of your axle and whatever brackets are used
