need help on tilt column
I bought a tilt for my 72 swb from a person named Scott I think several months ago.The plastic part of the back of the signal switch broke inback.I was told I need a special puller to take the tilt apart to take the signal cancellars apart and out of the column.Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Ed

Re: need help on tilt column
Not a puller but, a tool to press the steering lock ring down to remove the clip holding it.

Re: need help on tilt column
Oh yeah, you'll probably need a steering wheel puller first.

Re: need help on tilt column
its real easy...
1.. remove battery cable 2.. remove horn button 3..use puller-remove steering wheel 4..use press to compress spring..5.. remove clip..note no special tool necessary,,as clip is held in place 1/2 on shaft & 1/2 held in place by grove in plate.. ..you should NOT.. have to take apart tilt area.. turn signal cam plate is held in place with 3- 4 philips screws.. be sure to unscrew lever first.. reassemble in reverse order.. |

Re: need help on tilt column
Now if your column is for a 72 there is no lock plate or retaining clip these are used in 73 up with locking steering wheel. yes wiring is same for tilt or non tilt.

![]() I don't know who sells them but, I made mine out of a piece of 1 1/4" x 3" O.D. channel with a hole in it.......Not sure if the parts are the same for tilt/non-tilt.
