LMC bolt on dual exhaust

Has anyone used the dual exhaust kit from LMC? 2 1/4" system.

I have a 72 Suburban I am looking to put duals on. 350, stock manifolds. Seems like a good price.

Do the exhaust hangers attach to factory holes, or do I have to drill or weld hangers on to the frame?

Local places what 400-450.00 to do dual exhaust. This system would save me a lot of money.

Thanks

Re: LMC bolt on dual exhaust

I have it, like it, had to get one pipe adjusted at midas, besides that it works fine, has all the hangers and gasket with it. Midas here in SV AZ wanted 600+ to do my longbed. I hope they are still waiting....its rediculous.

I have installed several sets and they hold up well. You will end up adapting the hangers to the frame. I use heavy duty clamps for clamping the pipes together as the light duty ones furnished will not squeeze the pipes down enough to seal the joints.

Re: LMC bolt on dual exhaust

The exhaust 'kit' I bought for my 4x4 went right on with no problems. Everything was in the box except far a hanger for the side of the truck that didn't have one from the factory. That is the only thing I had to fab.

The kits are drop shipped from http://www.heartthrobexhaust.com/. Quality stuff. I've had my system on there so long I already had to replace the mufflers once.

Re: LMC bolt on dual exhaust

i want to run that lmc truck stainless exhaust w/ x pipe on my 72 burb 3/4 ton 2wd. i will keeping the stock ram horn manifolds for big money savings, durability and better low end performance than headers provide. that will let my 406sbc breathe like it should!

Re: LMC bolt on dual exhaust

Yep the stainless x-pipe system looks nice, but a bit too pricey for me right now. Plus I have a stock 350 so I think the 2 1/4" system will be good. Even when I replace/rebuild the engine I am not going to go too high horsepower. I would like to get 280-300HP out of a rebuild. That's another day!

Re: LMC bolt on dual exhaust

sounds good...

i just hate to invest money and time into a vehicle and then have to do it over again a couple years down the road. i have been replacing fasteners on my 72 burb left and right with stainless so it will look nice for a long time. i can't remember how many times my dad was out in garage all night long with the air chisel seperating exhaust pipes on our aries wagon (now another project of mine) so he could put in a new section. his next car (now my 198k mile daily driver) was/is a 97 merc sable wagon and it was sooooo nice that it had a stainless exhaust.....only had to recently replace the cat converters (all one piece w/ a y pipe...ouch$$$) and it still has the same muffler and tailpipes that were on 11 years ago when he bought it. thank goodness lmc has stainless door sill plates...i only have to get a "vulnerable" one for the third door. o blah dee, oh blah da.....life goes on......

Re: LMC bolt on dual exhaust

I had 2 1/4 dauls with ram horns, put headers and 2 1/2 with flow masters it sounds 10 times better.

I did it and was very pleased with the kit and how it sounds. Very good value.
