Just pulled this one out of my wife's grandfathers chicken house
Just pulled this one out of my wife's grandfathers chicken house...84000 miles Started right up after sitting 7 years (after a new battery) Her grandfather bought it brand new in 1968. When he brought it home everybody asked him why in the world would you buy a yellow truck? He said....it was the only color they had and I needed a truck

Wash it, put on a seat cover and take it to a show.

Re: Just pulled this one out of my wife's grandfathers chicken house
All ready washed it...it is a straight 6. I am not doing anything to the body or paint, I am thinking about powder coating the wheels a pale yellow with wide whites, maybe a glitter white vinyl seat covers....

Welcome 68GMCGuy! I'm likin' your plans. Pics of it cleaned up, or do we have to wait for the wheel/tire combo? Wouldn't happen to be a 292?

Re: Just pulled this one out of my wife's grandfathers chicken house
Welcome to the best forum on the net. Nice find, I wish I could get so lucky.
One way to tell if its a 250 or a 292 is the placement of the fuel pump. I'll look to see If I can find a pic.

Re: Just pulled this one out of my wife's grandfathers chicken house
Yeap i was right, a 250 has the fuel pump towards the front of the motor, whereas a 292 has the fuel in the center.

Re: Just pulled this one out of my wife's grandfathers chicken house
I think I'd leave the big mirrors, the huge bumper, the tank in the bed.... just make it run good, sound good, and low as can be.
But, if there's chicken smell.... I'd get rid of that first. Welcome to the club from Columbus Ohio. |
