Header question?

I a looking at getting these summit brand headers, part number Summit SUM-G9006. Does any one know if i will have to modify the clutch linkage with these headers. Also does anyone know if i would have ground clearance issues with these headers by lowering the truck 3 inches in the front and 4 inches in the back. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I can't help you on the lowering thing, but in terms of clutch clearance, I had no issues whatsoever. You just have to make sure you give them all the necessary details of your truck (engine, trans, manual, P/S, etc) so they give you the right ones.

They are great headers, especially for the price!

Re: Header question?

A lil update on relish's truck. We put the headers on and the threaded rod of the clutch linkage made contact with the header. I cut between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch off and problem solved. All in all they fit good. As expected with all aftermarket pieces a lil tweaking was needed.

Re: Header question?

Relish, these headers should fit my 72 c0 ,307v8, 4 speed standard? I have headers on it since I bought the truck but don't know the brand and would like to replace them soon. Wonder if the ceramic headers #SUM-G9006-9 are worth the extra money?

Re: Header question?

cajun chevy they should fit but you may have to modify one of the primaries or the clutch rod to fit them. as my brother 68longhorn stated we had to grind down the clutch rod a little

Re: Header question?

cajun, I have the summit ceramic coated headers on my caprice and the coating started flaking within the 1st year. They've been on the car 4 years and still there, just not much coating left.

Re: Header question?

Thank for the info. Probably will go with the painted headers instead of the ceramic coated.
