Opinions on these wheels and info needed

I had a guy offer me these wheels. I like them because they are nice looking, billet rims, and are one-off in 6 lug (they come in 5 lug but this is the only set ever made 6-lug...was done for a photoshoot) However, I'm not sure they're going to work. They would be going on my 70 longbed C10 with airbags and 2" blocks on stock trailing arm rear. C-notch with stock bedfloor and rear wheel wells. Stock inner fenders in front. They are 20X9 Front 5.5 bs and 22X10 rear with 6"BS which is the main part I'm concerned with. Asking him now for tire sizes. Would they work with a 1/2" spacer in the rear? I know most go with 5.5" BS on a 10" rim. I have the stock (wider) 70 rear in the truck. Also concerned with center cap/hub fitment in the truck. If they fit his should they fit mine with 6 lug discs front/drums rear? Here's his truck with the rims (newer red/black one) and the one I'm modeling after (blue)

The center hub bore will be too small if they were designed like the 99-06 wheels.
I would also be afraid the front BS is not enough.

I like a minimum of 5"-5.25" BS on a 20x8" wheel,... and 5.25"-5.75" on a 20x8.5" wheel.
A spacer will definitely be needed on the rear.

So half inch spacers front and rear but then I'd be cutting the inside edge of the fender for sure. He said he threw these on his bagged 68 and they fit. Maybe because they are custom and not normally for that application. Guess if these are too much trouble ill go with the boss wheels but it seems a ton of people are running those, coys, or TT2's. Thought it would be sweet to have a one of a kind billet wheel. I guess ill have to settle on having the only bagged or shaved full size that shows in my area (read: my area is behind on trends).

NO spacers for the front. Not enough bs for a 9" rim. I would bolt them on your truck or another 6-lug lowered truck before you buy.

That's what I was thinking, but I really wanted to make them work

He was offering them for 1500 shipped including tires with a matching steering wheel from Budnik. 5500 worth of stuff....

I think I'll go with the boss 338's once they get them worked out for our trucks and in chrome and I'll convert to 5 lug...

Skorp did a p-shop for me...too bad they won't work..they'll look pretty good...not my truck but another members ride I'd saved and he shaved it and swapped the rims

Those would look good and different, but I would be a little skeptical without seeing them mounted. I'm with lolife99.... I'd pass.

the fronts are 6 3/4 backspacing and the rear are 6 3/8....
then i added 1" adapters with makes the backspacing 5 3/4 & 5 3/8
here are pics showing how far they tuck..... "




SO.....if he's running a 22 X 9.5" wheel with an effective BS of 5 3/4 on the front, wouldn't a 20X9 with 5.5 BS work? If not, I should be able to do a 1/4" shim to get it to 5 3/4 BS and it would still be 1/4 more tucked in than his...I know every truck is different and depends on spindles, etc...

On the rear with a 22 X 9.5 and a 5 3/8" BS...looks like with a 22X10 with 6 BS and a 1/2" spacer to make 5.5 BS it would tuck still but stick out roughly 1/2" more than his do (which tuck by a couple inches)....am I missing something?

I guess the hub size and whether the cap would fit are also big/huge concerns that I need to address with the seller.....maybe I can get him to post some pictures of them mounted on his 68.....

Keep in mind when looking at the backspacing on my wheels, that i have a narrower 68 axle housing in the rear and a dropmember in the front. it does make a difference

VA,... 1/4" shim "Takes AWAY" backspacing. That would make them 5.25" BS.
In my opinion a 20x9 (with a 5.5" BS) is the SAME as a 20x8 (with 4.5" BS).
That's not enough for my liking.
I just think you will run into issues if you try to bag the front.
The rear will be fine with spacers. The front is all I was worried about.

:doh: it was a late night lase night. Messed up the front BS. I think I'm gonna get them and try. If they didn't work I'm sure I could at least break even on ebay.

I will look into an earlier rear if the rear wheels stick out too far. Might not need the shims with the later rear...

Also, I plan on riding with the bags at a roughly 5/7 drop and only dumping at shows so hopefully I'd get by with little trimming.

Budnik makes good stuff. I think you should buy them. I have a feeling that if they don't work, you will be able to sell them and get your money back.

I dont know those wheels are tight and for the price man you cant beat it I just went on there website and it would cost you a whole lot more if you had to get them out of the box brand new.

Also curious if he goes with a larger backspace wheel will it help his clearance issue? Correct me if im wrong you are concerned about clearnce issues in the rear right? How about if he had a 6inch back spaced wheel like a 24x10 wheel?

Maybe im confused, I read in the other posts that adding a 1inch spacers may help the tuck, but if he has a 6inch back space wouldint the wheel stick out more or less the way he wanted it?

Yeah, I'm thinking now that the 6" BS might work with my 70 (wider) rear. Guess we'll see...working out payment/shipping with the guy now...

Taking measurments of your rear diff might tell you somethings. Im going threw the similar situation with a set of wheels I purchased as well. I installed a Ford 9 inch rear end into my C-10 which is much shorter but my back space in the rear is 6.21" im waiting on getting the wheels now to see what I need to do wether they will fit right or not is beyond me I wil make them fit the way they should. I was curious about the samething wether or not they will stick out or be perfect.

I would get them if I were you and see what you got as far as measurements. For that price you cant pass it up.

It is doing good. It is currently in the middle of cancer surgery. I have been taking pictures along the way and I hope to start a build thread soon.

Anyway, back to the subject at hand. Buy them!

I dont mean to hijack this thread but I have a similar situation. I have a 72 that I am bagging. I found some Boyd Harm wheels that I got at a very good price. They are 22x10 with 5.75 backspacing for the rear and 20x8 with 4.75 backspacing. Are these going to fit? If I run a dropmember how will it affect the backspacing I need on the front? I know it is supposed to narrow the track by about 2" right? My truck is in pieces and it is killing me to know how they are going to fit.

Those should work with a dropmember in the front.
