That's what I use and it works OK. I still like the old 2 person-pump the pedal method though... LockDoc

Re: One Man Brake Bleeders
saw this on trucks! yesterday seemed to work good..
Motive Products Web: Motive Products Phone: 877-59-BRAKE -The Motive Products POWER BLEEDER(TM) is the number 1 selling DIY pressure brake bleeder. The POWER BLEEDER(TM) operates just like the professional mechanics' tool at a fraction of the price.

Re: One Man Brake Bleeders
I use a one man bleeder kit I got from Kragen. basically a plastic bottle with some hose and a magnet on it. Stick it to the frame above the bleeder and pump. Probaly cost about $5. That Harbor Freight one looks useful though.

Re: One Man Brake Bleeders
I have the one from Harbor Freight and I am not impressed with it. Good vaccuum but the connector is not very good. Its the weakest poiny of the system. I can hear air being sucked into the tube from the connection. Seems like it puts air back into the system. Im still having issues bleeding my brakes. They work but seem soft to me.

Re: One Man Brake Bleeders
The Motive Products works well. It's just a glorified bug sprayer bottle but has the correct parts to do a good job.

Re: One Man Brake Bleeders
Hardware store sprayer
http://www.bmw-m.net/TechProc/bleeder.htm Take an old mastercylinder cap and rig a fitting on it and then cut the center of the gasket out with a razer knife. Put in a pressure gage if you want to but it isn't a necessity with this unit. I have a Mity-Vac which the Harbor freight unit is a knock off of and while it gets the job done you do have a bit of vacuum leak around most bleeder screws and quite often where the hose goes on the bleeder. Still it is pretty easy to use when you are alone and need to get the job done. I haven't made one of the units with the spray tank yet but that is in the plans. |

Re: One Man Brake Bleeders
I have a similar one, it seems to suck the fluid right through the lines, the rubber connectors that came with mine seem to work good, seal tight. Mine is called a mitey vac. Was 15 bucks I think. Does other things too.

Re: One Man Brake Bleeders
Pump the brakes good and hard about 10 times them pull the top off the master cylinder and gravity blead the brakes in order back to front. I have been doing this for years and works like a champ and dosent cost anything.

Re: One Man Brake Bleeders
I have the harbor freight one. Works good, but the litttle rubber gasket under the cap seems to leak very easy and you lose vacuum.

this is the one i have. and i use it very often at the shop. it works great. the best way to do any bleeding is when you are thru with any particular wheel, remove the vacuum hose BEFORE you close the bleeder and close it ONLY after fluid begins to trickle out. this takes care of any air that was sucked in thru the threads on the bleeder screw.

Re: One Man Brake Bleeders
I have the Mity Vac version of the first HF vacuum pump, I just used it recently to bled the back brakes on the DD. Did good I actually vacuumed all the old fluid out so I now have new fluid in my system. Doing that made a bigger improvement than I would have originally guessed.
