I have a 67 non power steering frame. How thick does the spacer between the frame and the gearbox have to be? I'm trying to make my own. Im installing a complete power steering unit out of a 84 chevy. Thanks for any help

You dont have to have one at all. I have a 72 box on my 67 and dont have one

apparently you'll need to either heat the area and smash it in with a BFH, for the recess needed for the stock steering box, or use a spacer.
I think it's Captainfab that makes a really nice spacer.

jbristo- are you sure your frame is actually a 67? did ya smack it with a hammer or something?

afaik, the 'flat' 67 frame won't take a ps box un modified. This was in a recent thread...

Check the frame. Some '67 trucks actually had the notch and power steering. I looked at one in the junkyard not too long ago. I was very confused by it, but then after more research we figured out it was from the factory, but a late year production.

Mine had no notch but fit fine

I was under the impression that all 67yr frames were flat, but I can see later in the year it being included. I'll take your word for it!

depending on your PS pump setup...the '67 mounting location or the '84 mounting location, mainly regarding getting stock lines to fit, you may need to convert that PS box to flair fitting.

Since the '85 lines would not reach the factory '70 pump location that uses the motor mount. If the pump was in the '85 location, the '85 lines might have worked.

I've seen 68's without the dimple, and I've seen 67's WITh the dimple. So always look, never assume.
