Gas cap door

I'm new to this forum, so here it goes the truck is a 72 gmc fleetside short bed, the tank is behind the rear axle and I'm going with the filler thru the metal bed, I'm having problem something that looks good. Have any of you done this? And how did it turn out? Everything I have seen (doors to hide the filler hole or cap) don't look very well. If anyone has one that turned out good show please.

Re: Gas cap door

Late 80's Dodge van door is flat, which makes it easier to mold into the floor of your bed ridges.

Re: Gas cap door

keep me posted on what you go with. Not saying this is how you should do it but look into it. I have my tank mounted under my bed and have not yet decided what i want to do. I have been to a local Harley-Davidson shop and through their parts dept. you can get a pop-up gas cap in either chrome or black for about 65-70 bucks. it has threads on it so it supposed to screw into any gas filler used on vehicles. I am leaning towards this because of the look(size and flush) but my bed floor will be painted black so i am looking at the black cap to be subtle.

Here's mine......used a lid from a early 90's Olds with the electric release. Located the buttom right behind my license plate that folds down (hidden hitch)
