Header opinions needed
Well, after a very long time my dad has finally decided to install his 327 into his '66. The old 6 cylinder finally came out on Saturday morning and his 327 is fully re-assembled and after a little paint will be ready to install. Now all he needs is a set of headers. I found these on Jeg's: http://www.jegs.com/i/Flowtech/387/11500/10002/-1
What are the forum's opinions? I realize these are not the nicest headers in the world but the 327 is bone stock and the truck is just a play-thing. So, if any of the members can give me some opinions or possibly make a suggestion on different headers I would appreciate it. Thanks, mudbone64 |

Mine are like that. They are ok but I wish I had got different ones now cause I want to lower the truck and those will be the first thing to drag.

Re: Header opinions needed
I have not used those on my 66 but i did use them on my 75 and had nothing but trouble with them. They were on for about 6 months and went through 4 sets of gaskets. Finall got fed up with it and pulled them off to find out the mounting flang was warped. Bought a set of hookers with a thicker flange and never had another problem. With that being said i cant say that all there headers are this way but i didnt have any luck with them.

5/8" thick flanges (or thicker) or nothing. I'll never go cheapo again.

Re: Header opinions needed
I was thinking on getting some Headman headers I have seen at Summit for my 327 in my 65.
I think they were $154. Has anyone used these ? Not sure though since I have never had headers. I wasn't for sure if it would make mine perform any better or sound any better. As of now, I have the original ram horns, mild cam and dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. Anybody got any suggestions if I shoud go with headers ?? |

Yep - 3/8" is what I meant.
