Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
All put together
I did put some paint on the exhaust manifolds, but it's only to make the pics look better. I plan on smoothing the manifolds then sending them off to Jet-Hot to have them coated. Throttle body cleaned up Engine mount plates My daughter said I needed to pose with my engine

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
Thanks! They are not headers, but the stock exhaust manifolds with the heat shields taken off. I am going to have them Jet-Hot coated. The red and aluminum paints are Rustoleum Engine Enamel.

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
LOL, easy on yourself!! I just didn't get to the pulleys tonight, I was pooped. I still need to clean up and paint the left side bracket, but I need to pull off the PS pump pulley first so I can take the PS pump off. Once that's done, and I get the alternator cleaned up, I'll paint all the pulleys semi-gloss black.

Nice try Jon. I think we've all tried to talk him out of this whole project, and have achieved nothing for our efforts.

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
are you going to have to notch the frame rails to make those manifolds work?
and great choice on the jet hot. awesome coating... i had a local place do my long tubes on the goat and couldnt be happier. looks good as new over a year later and 5 minutes after you turn off the car you can touch them... if your into that kinda thing. did them in satin black.

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
From what I've read I will have to notch the passenger side out by about 3/4" x 2". If I can find a set of F-body manifolds then I can use the passenger side and not have to notch the frame. Either way, I don't mind cutting the frame. I've done worse!
I may move my time frame up a little. I was going to wait until winter to start, but Fred just happens to have one fuel tank at 1/8 and the other at 1/4. Light enough to pull them. I'll have more money in the budget next month, 2 weeks. I can get a lot done in two weeks before I need more $$ to keep going. Just a thought, not set in stone yet.

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
Then again, I've been thinking about selling one of my AR-15 carbines. If I get that done, Fred would be finished $$-wise.

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
Bob, I wouldn't go through the trouble of pulling the tanks. Pulling the bed back is quicker.

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
The sending units are under the cab. And since the truck has over 200,000 miles on it, I want to clean the tanks out real well, as well as spiff up the outsides. The bed is coming off already too since I am redoing the entire fuel system, it will give me room to get in there and sit down and mount the filters and route the hoses.
