67-72 fiberglass dash

Have you guys seen the fiberglass dash Paul Atkins is making for the 67-72 trucks? It's not for the purists, but for those that like true custom interior. LINK

Re: 67-72 fiberglass dash

I think it looks pretty good, however I'm not sure it would be tall enough to cover up all your goodies behind the dash. I'd be worried your air, brake assembly, etc would be hanging out? I would love to see one installed though

Re: 67-72 fiberglass dash

There's a lot of different designs that guy could've used but for my tastes, I sure would've like to see something else. Looks like it came out of a Mazda Miata. Just MHO.

Re: 67-72 fiberglass dash

Too expensive, I plan on making my own, fiberglass is really easy to work with. I think it's ugly, gauges are ok but the rest pretty much fails.

Re: 67-72 fiberglass dash

I think it looks okay. But that's about it....okay. At first I really liked it, but the more and more I looked at it the appeal wore off. Not necessarily for me but it may look better installed and painted. Initially, I was going to get one, but I'd rather find a 59-60 Impala dash or something like that. Or just simply make my own.

Re: 67-72 fiberglass dash

Sorry,me no likey.
I`m no purist, but I don`t like that at all.It has a current styling look about it.If I wanted to look at a modern dash I`d be driving a modern vehicle.Besides,it uses up already limited cab space.I have enough room, but alot of the big boys complain already. And finally...there`s nothing true custom about buying a ready-made part that anyone could run out and buy.If I go custom it`s one of a kind,or duplicating a nostalgic trend.

Ok,one more thing. It`s plastic or whatever! That`s one thing that attracts us to these trucks is the fact that they were still made out of steel and not cardboard and plastic.

Re: 67-72 fiberglass dash

Here's some pics of one completed. Not a 67-72 version, but you can see why it has the indent. After looking at the pics in the Classic Trucks, I'm wondering if the dash pictured is not really the 67-72 version.

Re: 67-72 fiberglass dash

I would have to agree with the mob. I'm not a fan of this design, a fancy way of saying I don't like it. I have a 63 swb fleetside behind the barn and I really like the dash it has. I tend to be a purist, so it will stay in the 63.

My thoughts exactly. I saw Ken pick a cluster for one up at a swap meet and this looks a lot like it.

It looks great for a customized truck. I just don't want to go that custom, but kudos anyway.

I agree with you! i spoke to mr Atkins the one who designed this dash, it is a modern version of the 59 impala dash. He also makes fiberglass versions of the original 59 impala dash for camaros and i believe he may make them for 67-72 chevy trucks.
