I was warned.....

Two years ago i was warned not to sell my 67 C-30 duallie after putting up this post

Months would go by and nothing would get done because I was always trying to make it come out perfect, and knowing how rare and special these trucks are made it that much harder. I sure had high hopes for my duallie and will be posting it up for sale. Maybe someone can finish what I started. I sure enjoyed the time I spent with you guys and I considered you all friends......................Flat67
And I was given good advice such as this...

So one day about a year ago I came across this. The price was fair so I bought it.......I know you guys like pics, more coming up as the story continues......

Glad to see you back into it. They are very hard to let go of. I think everyone on the board that has sold one, has gotten another one as the withdrawal was too much to deal with.

Re: I was warned.....

Glad to see you back.I have owned one or more of these trucks for the last 30 years.Sometimes it was just a project set back for a later date with absolutely nothing getting done to it.I,too am working on a very limited time/money budget.

Welcome back - glad to see you're in the '67 club again. That new one looks like the wheelbase is a little longer.

Re: I was warned.....

This one came with rare options I had never seen before. I first thought that the PO had modified it, but no, it came that way come to find out.

Pics of 18" wheels with 5/10 lug pattern on a huge rear end.

Ok someone educate me here. Why would the brake booster be like that? I just don't know what purpose that serves

Re: I was warned.....

It's out of the way is one reason.

I'm wondering if that isn't a heavier truck than a C-30 though.

That's a serious truck as far as what it will haul. It would be interesting to learn it's history.

Now, what are your plans for it?

Like Mr48chev said, it out of the way. It is actually quite large. It is very common on the C40 thru C60, but I had never seen one on a C30 until I saw it here. Some of them even have a double booster.

IIRC it is a "hydrovac" unit.

Re: I was warned.....

As a kid I had a 63 chrysler new yorker and cleaned it all the time, that's all I knew how to do. Then I had a 63 International truck with a patina and bad steering. a 70 toyota corona that burned up, a 73 datsun, a 68 falcon, Fiat X-19, another 70 corona (mint), 78 VW bus complete with 360 degree rust, 84 schiroco with a leaky main bearing, 70 land cruiser with a cracked head, and a 60 corvair that my ex wife took in the divorce (and the dog, too). For 10 years I didn't have anything to turn a wrench on for fun. My 67 GMC was the best thing to happen in a long time. Even though it needs everything, I can't wait to get into it every morning. I go to sleep thinking about what I'm going to work on when I wake up. I told my wife I was going to fix it up and sell it so I can buy the Factory Five 65 coupe. Its going to have to wait. I have the truck and its not going anywhere.

It is like a C30 on steriods. The rear end is a H110 axle with 6.17 gears rated at 11,000# yet the VIN plate has a GVW of 10,000#. With those gears it doesn't like going much past 50mph. So it likes carrying heavy things but not moving very fast ..................Flat67

Very good, that memory is doing fine. It ia a Midland hydrovac unit............Flat67

Re: I was warned.....

back FLAT67! You make me jealous. I wish I had your new truck and $50,000, then I would have the fun of putting every penny into restoring that truck. As to feeling of remorse about selling your first truck. I thought about what would happen if I sold mine. It would be like having a close family member pass away. I would have a big hole in my life and why? Just to get some stupid money! Remember this motto: (Everyone bow their heads)
Life with a 67-72 Chevy truck and no money is far better than life with money and no 67-72 Chevy truck! Amen.

Glad you are back!! I have been racking my brain trying to get my 68 C-30 running correctly this week. (Frustrating), but you're post makes me want to jump right back into it and get it going again.

Re: I was warned.....

my 56 c6500 had a similar hydrovac system, with that plus the 10 lug stuff and 6.17 that truck may have been a 40 or just flat out over built.

your original bed looks dead nuts like mine.
