Spindle question

My 65 has front disc brakes from the previous owner. Im wanting to order drop spindles but i dont know what the disc brakes came off of. No one around town was any help with the spindle i took out. How can i find out what year was used so i order the right drop spindle?

Re: Spindle question

If its 5 on 5 pattern then it is likely a set from a 73-87 C10, they will bolt on with special ball joints, or they may have just swapped the arms entirely, or even the whole cross member, either way anything designed for the 73-87 should work.

Re: Spindle question

It could be either a '71-'72 disc assembly or the '73-'87 disc assembly. The main difference is that the '71-'72 setup uses a different and more expensive lower balljoint. You could use a '73-'87 spindle and if you previously had the '71-'72 spindle, you'd need to change the lower balljoint. I'm pretty sure the rotors and bearings are the same, but you might want to verify that with your local auto parts store.

If you could post a pic of your current spindle I may be able to ID it by the style of the dust shield.....providing it is still there.

Re: Spindle question

Great info John, for some reason I thought all the C10's up to 72 were 6 lug, at least thats the only ones I have seen. Good to know.
