I have come to the point that I need to decide what to do about my door strickers. I am curious what most do on "show" trucks. I know you can paint them but they tend to scratch. I thought about having them coated? Anyone have any ideas or pics would be nice!!

maybe get them cadmium plating that should hold up and look good

I just had mine powder-coated the other day...I just picked a silver color that resembled cad-plating somewhat....I don't like the unpainted look even though it may be correct!

Just buy new ones. They're only about $18 each from the Truck and Car Shop in Orange, CA and that's likely cheaper and better than any coating or plating you can have done and will look great and be new. Paint or powder coat will scratch off eventually.

I'll take a powdercoated original over a low quality Chinese repop part.

I have new ones. Just not sure I like the "shinny" look. Open the door and it is all you see.

X3.....Always use original whenever possible!...99% of Repop stuff is crap IMO (though I have been forced to buy quite a bit of it myself).....

Yea I don't know about that shiny gold look...especially on a show truck!.... A lot of guys simply paint em body color!.....I myself just though I'd go for a little contrast.....

The repos I have fit and work good. It is just the plate so there isn't much that can go wrong. I would agree about using original sheet metal but on a part like this I guess you can get away with it - IMO of course...

Thanks for the response. I restore cars for a living, so I know a lot of repo stuff is less than great. BUT a lot of stuff is good quality and some is better than original. It's always nice to hear from someone who has used a new part, and what they thought about it before buying it yourself.
