Vintage pics
I know this thread was run a while ago, but...
Anybody have any vintage pics of trucks they have found out there? I like seeing old photos of the trucks when they were new, or almost new. Work horses are awesome. I rember the grey and white trucks the gas company used in the Wichita, KS area when I was a kid. |

Re: Vintage pics
Very nice. Slots, pushbars, and the old trailer matches. Very cool, indeed.

Re: Vintage pics
Me and my Mom at the side of the road coming home from relatives in NV back in the early 70's.
We just got through doing a couple 360's doing highway speeds after hitting black ice, thankfully no one was hurt and the burb didn't go off the road. We all stoped for a break right after the spin outs, but I think my Dad who was taking this picture was later seen changing his pants...

Re: Vintage pics
Me gathering firewood for the campsite at some logging road scrap pile in the Sierra NV. Pic taken in the mid 70's.
I have a few more, and I have been buggin my Dad to search for more. But his photo album collection is all slides, so it takes a long time to go through them all. If anyone has or know's about any good device that can scan the old slide type photo's to digital for later printing please let me know, since I want to do that to his collection and hopefully come up with some more old truck pics.

Vectorit, I got a scanner/printer/fax/canopener/toaster/etc. at walmart for $100 that you can put a slide on and it will scan like a regular pic(theoretically). Its a HP flatbed and works pretty darn well. |

I have personally used the Pandigital slide scanner on that page. Some pics come out fantastic, some just come out ok. A lot of it has to do with the quality of the original picture.

Re: Vintage pics
Awesome old picture 19673ontree. I wish I could find pictures of the 69 my grandpa bought new. Is that a zippo in dads pocket? Everytime I hear a zippo, I think of my dad.

Re: Vintage pics
Here's some. Great story, as I had restored this 71 K20, and this guy saw it on Craigslist and thought "that looks like my grandpa's truck". He pulled these old pictures out of his photo album and the license plates matched!
He paid me full asking price that evening and emailed me these pics. He used to go on camping trips with his grandpa, fishing and stuff. To him it was a miracle. These are of him as a kid posing in front of the truck. The part I like the best is all the different campers and such. They drove the wheels off that thing!!! |

Re: Vintage pics
Very cool, very cool indeed. This is awesome stuff. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and spend a couple weeks just looking around. Remember the gas stations with the bar inside? And the oil soaked floors? And when Super Bubble only cost 2 cents? (and when type writers had the cent symbol?)
